Care
Solid timber moves and ages. A little regular care keeps it looking right.
Day to day
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry. Use coasters and trivets. Keep pieces out of direct sun and away from heaters.
Re-oiling
Once a year, or when the surface looks dry, clean the piece and wipe on a thin coat of the same hard-wax oil. Wipe off the excess after twenty minutes.
Marks and dents
Small dents often lift with a damp cloth and a warm iron. Deeper marks can be sanded out locally and re-oiled. Ask me if you are unsure.
Natural movement
Timber swells and shrinks with the seasons. Fine cracks along the grain and slight changes in colour are normal.
